Rjenda releases mobile application for the Android platform

We are very pleased to announce the release of the Rjenda mobile application for the Android Platform. While the iOS application for the iPhone/iPAD/iPOD, has been available for a while now, this is the first release of our Android app – its available on several Android phones/tablets and on the Amazon Kindle. You can get the download information for these apps from the main Rjenda page at www.rjenda.com.

Rjenda’s mobile application is designed for use by teachers, students and parents who are already registered users of Rjenda.com. This application consists of two modules – (1) Planner and (2) Library.

Planner – See the list of your academic and extracurricular activities

Students can see their “To-Do list”, which lists all academic and extracurricular activities that the student MUST-Do and MAY-Do on any given day. These activities include assessments, homework assignments and extracurricular activities. They key features include - 

• Student’s MUST-Do and MAY-Do activities for any given day.
• Students can (1) mark their homework assignments, or the preparation for their upcoming assessments as “done”, (2) enter the “actual” time it takes them to complete any homework assignment, or the preparation for their upcoming assessments, and (3) enter comments/notes for themselves regarding the assessment/assignment.

Parents can view the activities for each of their children and see which assignments have been marked as completed and how long it took to complete.

Teachers can see the list of all their assessments, assignments and events for any given day.

Library – See the list of all your class documents/resources

Teachers, students and parents can see the list of all their class material (PDF files, PowerPoint notes, word documents, URL links etc.) in one convenient place. The Library is organized by the Classes/Groups you are a part of. Each of these classes has folders, and each folder has files or links.

As you know, teachers use Rjenda’s Library module on the web to add their class teaching material in one convenient place for students to access.

Rjenda product updates for February 2013 >> Groups visible to staff/admins only and more –

Rjenda  have made several product enhancements and improvements this month. The key ones include –

Groups visible to group organizers/staff only - 

We have heard this request from several of our schools – the ability to create groups/classes that are visible to the group’s organizer/faculty only. In such cases, schools get visibility into the workload for student’s in such a group/class, but students (and their parents) do not have visibility of such groups. Such groups/classes will appear in the Planner for the group organizer/faculty, but will not be shown to students or their parents. Such groups will not be referenced in the daily email digests as well.

 

New Export for Assessments and Assignments with Actual time

 

We have added 2 new data exports (visible only to Super-Group administrators) where you can see statistics about the “actual” time entered by students when they complete their assessments and/or homework assignments.

 

As you may know - 

• Rjenda has the capability for teachers to enter “estimated” time for homework assignments and assessments.
• Further, students using Rjenda, can enter the “actual” time it has taken them to complete such assessments or assignments
• Teachers can then view, the minimum, maximum and average time it has take their students to complete these assessments or assignments.

We have now added 2 new exports, where you can now see all the entries for actual time that have been entered by students. This data can then be further analyzed (within excel) for various type of comparisons and and to identify various  statistical outliers.

Rjenda product updates for January 2013 >> Message Tab; Calendar Import

Rjenda  have made several product enhancements and improvements this January. The key ones include –

Message Tab - 

The Message Tab in Rjenda has been enhanced with the following key new functionality-

• Teachers and Administrators can now send messages to their Students and/or Parents (if setup) for any class they teach or team they coach. To send such a message, click on the “Message” tab –> select the applicable group/class –> and check-off the users you would like to send the message to. This message is then sent to the users via Rjenda’s internal message service as well as via an email.
• Please note that students and parents cannot send new messages to groups from here – this facility is only for the teachers/staff of the school.
• Users can see such incoming messages in (1) their email inbox, (2) on their Rjenda Home Page under “notifications”, or (3) under the message tab -> Inbox
• Users can reply to this message via Rjenda’s internal message service

Calendar Import

• Rjenda has the capability to EXPORT calendars at the Group/Class and/or User level. Such exports include all events, assessments and assignments and can be viewed in another system that supports the iCAL format. Since this export is done as a dynamic URL, the target system can poll Rjenda on a scheduled basis and bring in new and updated information.
• Rjenda also has the capability to IMPORT calendars from external systems that support the iCAL format. So far this import process was “one-off”, so users could bring in all events into Rjenda, but had to click on the “refresh” link to being in new and updated information.
• We have just added the capability where these IMPORTED calendars will be polled every hour and new events brought into Rjenda automatically. Users will not have to manually refresh such imported calendars

Rjenda adds several well-known schools in California, Oregon and Texas to its list of customers

We are very pleased to announce that several schools in California, Oregon and Texas have started using Rjenda last summer/fall. Some of them include –

All these schools have been using the product since August/September 2012 after a simple, successful deployment of the product.

At the same time students will have an on-line planner with all their activities, both academic and extracurricular in one convenient place.

Rjenda enhances iPhone App for easy teacher access

As you may know, Rjenda has had an iOS/iPhone application for some time now with a focus on students and parents access.

With its latest release (v1.4), Rjenda has enhanced its mobile application so teachers, for the first time, can see all the assessments, assignments and events (school related and personal) that they have entered for any given day. This is similar to what they can see in the LIST view of their Planner on the web.

In addition to that, based on user feedback, Long-term assignments are now shown in the MUST-DO section for students, till the due-date is reached.

Rjenda.com selected by St. Andrews Episcopal School, Amarillo (TX) to manage student workload

We are very pleased to announce that St. Andrews Episcopal School, Amarillo (TX), has selected and deployed Rjenda to proactively manage student workload at their school. St. Andrew’s has been educating children since 1951.
